Profile of Hon. Jerry Otu

Hon. Jerry Anson Otu is an eloquent, outspoken, vibrant, energetic Nigerian legislator.

He is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State where he bagged a B.Sc Geography in 1992. He’s an Alumnus of Federal Government College, Okigwe, Imo State and Federal School of Art and Science, Aba, Abia State respectively.

Hon. (Elder) Jerry Otu is the Member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (8th Assembly) and also the Chairman, House Committee on Information.

Hon. Otu also doubles as the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Security, Youths and Sports. He is a member of twelve (12) other standing Committees. His appointment into these Committees is an attestation to his proactive Legislative prowess.

Born on 9th March, 1966, Otu who hails from Ikot Enwang in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, the first LGA in Nigeria and the gateway to other states is a career security expert who has recorded distinctive and tremendous success in Security Management, Hospitality and Information Technology spanning over 3 decades.

He has maintained great affinity to the service of humanity through his philantropic gestures both privately and corporately. His social network cuts across various socio-cultural, business and political groups such as Ati Annang amongst others.

Hon. Jerry Anson Otu’s investment in humanity through his many humanitarian and philanthropic gestures to his immediate constituency has earned him several accolades and awards in recognition of his gigantic and unprecedented contributions to community and nation building.

He has successfully demonstrated these gestures to his fatherland through his Foundation (Jerry Otu Foundation). The foundation has so far paid school fees, bought JAMB Forms for members of his community, made various donations (cash and equipment to churches in his constituency) and most recently embarked on the following projects:

Provision of Ambulance for Ikot Ekpene LGA, Provision of Ambulance for Obot Akara LGA, Renovation of Ibiakpan Akanawan Village Town Hall, Ikot Ekpene LGA, Renovation of Ikot Enwang Village Town Hall, Ikot Ekpene LGA, Renovation of Nsit Ikpe Town Hall, Obot Akara LGA (Ongoing), Reactivation of Solar Energy Powered Borehole, Ibiakpan Akanawan, Ikot Ekpene LGA (Ongoing) and Reactivation of Solar Energy Powered Borehole, Ikot Enwang, Ikot Ekpene LGA (Ongoing).

Hon. Otu is the Executive Director/CEO Dogmate Securities Network, a Security consultancy company in Nigeria and one of the first company to bring in Electric Fencing into the Country from South Africa.

He’s a member of the revered and prestigious Ati Annang Foundation, Member Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG), Member South Africa and America Beorboel Club, Member Nto Annang Houston Chapter(USA) Member, Ikot Ekpene Club and presently the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Aluminous Obafermi Awolowo University, Uyo Chapter.

Hon. Jerry Anson Otu was elected into the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in March as Member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara Constituency during the 2023 State House of Assembly election under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and won with a landslide victory of 26,315 votes.

He is an Elder and Steward at the Methodist Church Nigeria Ikot Abia Idem/ Ikot Enwang Circuit in Ikot Ekpene Diocess, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

Hon. Jerry Otu is married to Mrs. Idongesit Jerry Otu and the union is blessed with 4 children.
